2001 RINKER 232 CUDDY
2001 RINKER 232 CAPTIVA – SLEEPS 2 – JUST DETAILED
23 1/2 foot sport boat with a 300-hp Mercruiser 5.7 MAG MPI V8 and Bravo III drive. This high-40 MPH runabout sleeps 2 adults and features a large sunpad, walk-thru windshield, wetbar, and a V-berth cabin. Cruises comfortably around 25 MPH and tops out near 50 MPH.
Without question, the 232 Captiva Cuddy’s gelcoat and mold work are well-above production-boat standards. Additional graphic accents have been cleanly applied in vinyl tape. Behind the 20-mil gelcoat (25 mils below the waterline) you’ll find a 2-ounce-chop skin coat, Coremat in the hullsides and chopped strand mat. Laminants also include three layers of 2415 Fabmat, which has also been used to encapsulate seven-ply pressure-treated plywood.
To support the considerable engine hatch/sunpad when open, the manufacturer installed two gas struts. The engine itself is lag-bolted to the stringers and further secured by the standard transom assembly. Engine compartment wiring is generally well supported and protected, and the bilge is finished with gelcoat for easy cleaning.
Rinker has done a fine job outfitting the cuddy cabin of this 232 Captiva without over-stuffing it. The space feels larger than it is, perhaps because of the light interior color and abundant natural illumination from the deck hatch and two portholes. Filler cushions complete the V-berth, which is just large enough for 2 adults to use in comfort.
The cockpit features bucket seats for the driver and co-pilot. On the port gunwale, a stainless-steel grab handle is supplied for the co-pilot. At the helm to starboard, you’ll enjoy an unobstructed view of all the Faria instruments installed in the simulated woodgrain panels. The Dino tilt steering wheel makes for comfortable driving ergonomics, as does the perfect placement of the throttle and shifter on the gunwale.
Just aft of the co-pilot’s position is the entertainment console which includes a sink and stowage compartment, complete with brackets for a pull-out trash receptacle. Aft of that is a walk-through that leads to the swim platform. An L-shape lounge provides enough seating for four or five adults, and the sunpad is large enough to accommodate one person.
The Rinker 232 Captiva Cuddy boasts strong performance, easy drivability and an array of pleasant interior features.
