A brand new design from Sea Ray who has taken some great features of their cruisers and added some wonderful features of the fish boat. Whether you are a weekend cruiser or a weekend fisherman you are going to have a good time.

Our boat is decked out with the $8,000.00 optional Fishing Package which includes the aluminum radar arch, bait prep station with a recirculating live well a raw water wash down and extra, arch-mounted rod holders. She’s equipped with the most popular engine alternative – the Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI with a Bravo III drive that only has been used for a total of 332 hours since new. Close to 80% of the engine run time has been at RPM’s at or below 3,000 which suggests gentle use. As the pictures suggest, this boat has been well cared for by her previous owner and all systems are go.

Many companies have attempted to deliver something that can satisfy both worlds and still be family friendly but Sea Ray has hit the mark just right with the new 270 Amberjack which beautifully blends cruising and fishing in one. From the helm forward she looks and feels like a typical cruiser and from the helm back; an upscale fish boat. Getting to the bow is easy. Up 3 steps passed thru the walk-thru windshield. Up front is the optional anchoring system with roller and windlass and high rails is protecting the bow. The water fill is located to the bow on the port side. Our model also has the optional remote control spotlight. Back at the helm the bucket seat has large bolsters as well as slide/swivel adjustment. A hatch between the helm and companion side opens up to the battery switch, main breakers and some storage. The dash has analog gauges arranged across the top. Smartcraft Diagnostics are standard on this model. The stereo remote is to the left of the wheel with the VHF radio installed below it. The companion side has back-to-back seating that easily converts to a lounger.

The surprisingly spacious interior has a port side galley with microwave, single burner cook-top, covered sink, cabinets, and a refrigerator below. The power distribution panel is just aft of the galley (where also the stereo system is housed). The trash bin is cleverly hidden under the step. The spacious V-berth features a table that sets up in seconds or can be dropped down to form the base for a filler cushion that converts this space into a bed. The table has a nested space under the cushion for storage when not needed. The head has a porthole for natural light and ventilation. The vanity has a pull-out faucet showering handle and the porcelain toilet bowl features a vacuflush system.

Our boat has the optional snap-in carpet. Besides the standard bimini top our boat has the optional tubular arch with 4 more rod holders across the back edge.

Another good example of how this is a fishing boat is displayed in the live well (lighted) for the bait just aft of the helm seat which also features a wash down sink with a pull out sprayer, cutting board and large storage area underneath. The rod holders in the gunnels are angled to prevent tangling lines while trolling. The fishing features continues with the large transom insulated fish box. Rod holders are under the gunnels on each side. Coaming pads around the cockpit will protect your legs while working the fish. A clever design for the stern bench allows it to be set up when needed yet it is hinged so you can easily raise the engine hatch to check levels before taking off. The standard extended swim platform is large enough for play or for boarding with large items with ease. A concealed 3-step boarding ladder and a grab handle gets you out of the water without help. The transom locker has line organizers built in and the transom shower is on the wall at the walk-thru to the cockpit.

This new innovative model is 30 feet length over all with a beam width of 8 feet 6 inches. She needs 15 inches draft with the outdrive up and 44 with the outdrive down.

Double Play – Mobility with virility.

If your favorite part of boating is to cruise in style from Point A to Point B, and dragging a few lines along the way is a bonus, have we got a boat for you. The Sea Ray 270 Amberjack is that rarest of hybrids— a well-appointed cruiser that you can use for fishing.

To be honest, the 270 Amberjack is not a fishing machine, but it does have standard inwale rod racks and coaming bolsters in the cockpit. To convert it for serious angling, you’ll need to shell out for the optional fishing package ($7,933), which includes an aluminum radar arch with four rocket launchers, a bait prep station with a recirculating livewell (the lid is clear so you can spy on your bait), a raw- water wash-down, and four gunwale-mounted rod holders.
Properly armed, the 270 Amberjack acts as a serviceable fishing rig, with more than 28 square feet of cockpit space when you fold away the transom bench. Standing along the transom, you’ll need to swing out your rod five feet to clear the standard bolt-on swim platform. Plus, the high freeboard typical of a cruiser means you need to reach down four feet to boat your catch. Add a net with a long handle to your list of necessities.
Even decked out with angling amenities, the 270 Amberjack has the heart of a cruiser: Picture a well-appointed cabin with cherry veneer cabinets and a galley that boasts a microwave, refrigerator, and sink. The vinyl-lined head has a vacuum-flush commode with a pump-out tank and a shower nozzle, so you can clean up after a day of handling fish. And, yes, the shower sump is easily accessible under the trash receptacle in the cabin entryway steps… The boat is exceptionally quiet at the helm, so you and your copilot can talk underway… All in all, it’s a winning combination.
